Making Up Tokyo
So as we mentioned yesterday we’re back from Japan. We’re currently working our way through a mountain-load of shots and we’ll post in drips and drabs. The first photo we’re going to share is the below delicate image, a Japanese woman doing her make up on the top of a Harajuku building. For the uninitiated Harajuku is the area of Tokyo that’s famous for cosplay and funky fashion. While she’s hardly dressed in the most adverse way, I like the fact how she’s managing to do her make up with her protective mask on at the same time.
The second photo isn’t street photography, but we like it a lot. What do you think about it?
What about you, do you have any shots of people getting ready in the morning? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter.

Tuesday, 17 May, 2011It is a very common view, here in Tokyo. There are a lot of people preparing themselves while commuting. It’s so common (yet considered annoying) that triggers one of the manner poster series, encouraging women to fix their make-up at home; not on train.
I have one shot on my old photoblog: http://martosc.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/mirror-mirror-on-my-hand/
Cheers…

Wednesday, 18 May, 2011Hi mate,
Yes, it’s a common thing in London as well, especially on trains. Never seen any posters in the UK saying that people should do it at home though – that must be a cultural difference.
Thanks for sharing your one! I’ll RSS your blog to keep up to date with your photography.
Thanks,
Marco

Wednesday, 18 May, 2011Oh fantastic! That’s awesome, in fact all of them are – it’s just one of the tiny reasons why I fell in love with Japan while over there.
Yeah, grabbed the RSS on the new one rather than the older one. No worries, hopefully you stick around here. Are you on Twitter?
