Shibuya Crossing
Another day, another selection of Japan street photography from the recent trip. The first shot isn’t artistic – it’s merely a stereotypical shot of Tokyo’s crowds. It was taken at the famous Shibuya crossing (the one that Oxford Circus‘ new diagonal crossing is modelled after). As the traffic drives through and the crowds slowly build, the countdown clock on the crossing readies the crow for the eventual frenzy of activity where a mass of humanity comes together.
The second photo is more intentional in its effect. Three young women in a line walking through a park – just in front, another three of a completely different generation. The staggering gives a sense of age and life – differing fashion separating the faceless people.
